Where it All Began: In a small stone house, tucked away in the little town of McLoud, Oklahoma. In the late 1940's, folks from all around flocked to the little rock house on the weekend where bootleg whiskey and homemade brew were flowing. The could smell the sweet hickory smoke of Jabo's Bar-Be-Q wafting upward from an old brick pit Jabo had build in his back yard. The sound of soulful music, shooting dice and smell of smoked meat slathered in homemade barbecue sauce filled the air. They would all gather for some of the best barbecue ever made by Jerome "Jabo" Lawson. Dwight Lawson, the youngest child of Jerome "Jabo" Lawson followed his father around as if joined at the hip. Dwight Lawson learned how to smoke the meat as he helped his father using that old brick pit and making the sauce from scratch. Everyone now days calls Dwight Lawson "Jabo".
